Designed and manufactured by G&G, the GMG42 is a high-quality replica of one of the most recognizable and influential machine guns ever produced. Originally developed in 1942 as the successor to the MG 34, the MG 42 was lighter, simpler, easier to operate and delivered an extremely high rate of fire. Its distinctive sound, caused by the high cyclic rate, earned it nicknames such as Buzzsaw, Spandau, Knochensäge or Zipper.
Built using extensive stamped components and frontline experience, the MG 42 featured a quick-change barrel system and enlarged controls for easier operation in harsh conditions such as winter environments.

Alongside the weapon itself, a wide range of accessories was developed, including bipods, tripods, anti-aircraft mounts and various ammunition containers. Although original production ended after World War II, the design continues to be produced worldwide in modernized variants such as the German MG3 and Austrian MG74. It also served as the foundation for other well-known machine guns like the M60, AA-52, MG 51 and FN MAG.

This 1230 mm long replica is fed by a detachable drum magazine with a capacity of 1700 BBs. It weighs approximately 10200 g and operates in full-auto mode only.
The replica is primarily made from steel, with selected components in polymer, aluminum and wood. Only a few parts are non-steel, including the wooden stock, the plastic pistol grip and BB feed tray, and the aluminum outer barrel. All other components such as the body, barrel shroud, bipod, controls and sights are made from steel. Just like the original, the GMG42 features a quick-change barrel system, allowing fast field stripping. The foldable bipod can be mounted in two different positions or removed completely.

The custom gearbox is CNC-machined from a single aluminum block. It can be accessed together with the hop-up unit by opening the top cover and feed tray, allowing easy maintenance or upgrades. The replica comes with a standard 50-round "Gurttrommel" drum magazine with a capacity of 1700 BBs, as well as a decorative non-disintegrating ammo belt.
